All Crisis? States, Indirections, Solutions of Criminology Criminology in Northrhine-Westphalia – Conference Report on the Fourth Meeting of the Network “Criminology in NRW” from 30 to 31 March 2023 at the University of Cologne

Abstract

In March 2023, the research network "Criminology in NRW" met for the fourth time, this time at the University of Cologne. There was an exchange about current research and dissertation projects and the situation of criminology at the state and federal level. One thematic focus was on crisis phenomena and the answers, explanations, and interpretations that criminology can find for them. The two main lectures dealt with the state of the art of criminology in jurisprudence and the relationship between theories of crime and empirical research. Further lectures dealt with current crisis phenomena, the situational action theory, police research, spatial relations of crime, juvenile delinquency, violent and sexual delinquency, and justice research.
