Abstract

2015 was marked by two events in Germany: The highest number of asylum seekers since the 1990ies and a record high of crimes classified as hate crimes by the police since the introduction of the Criminal Investigation Registration Service – politically motivated criminality. Still, little is known about hate crime offenders. In this contribution, results of a latent class analysis based on data on the backgrounds of suspects of right wing racist violent crimes between 2012 and 2016 based on criminal investigation files in North Rhine-Westphalia will be presented.
