Femicide – A Review From a Criminological Perspective

Abstract

In Germany, the term “femicide” has only recently attracted attention in the overall social debate. Unlike in other countries, it has hardly been dealt with in criminological research, although this is now changing. This paper offers an overview of terminology, related debates, possible manifestations, prevalences and legal classifications as a basis for former research. It also discusses these aspects in an international context.
